Antony and Ezra playing Schmeg The Egg

Our Story

The King Brothers are twins who were born 11 days apart and separated at birth. They met in high school and began forging a lifelong friendship. Their shared interests, personalities, and quirky sense of humor only solidified their bond. After an unfortunate, yet self-inflicted, series of events an Evil Ezra had to be fabricated so that the two could still remain close after Antony's mom forbid him from seeing Ezra. Throughout everything that the world could throw at them, here they are now starting a company together.

The brothers started writing together with the initial concepts for The Oh Force beginning in 2001. It was all fun and games at first, but they decided to try to turn their writings into something more. They began converting their stories into scripts with plans of grandeur to make The Oh Force into a cartoon and use that as a foundation to branch out into producing movies. When they finally got around to looking at what an actual pilot would cost, other things took priority. They decided to invest in their first film. Although it was released by Lionsgate and successful from a financial standpoint, their goodhearted nature was exploited by a middle-man who brokered the deal. Unfortunately, they were not the only ones as the con-man had absconded with the proceeds from more than 20 other film-maker's projects. This caused a significant rift between The King Brothers.  Resources depleted, new opportunities presenting themselves, and a loss of motivation the two brothers went their separate ways in favor of more practical futures.

A decade later after rekindling their friendship and some liquid courage, they decided to dust off The Oh Force and at least finish the first season; more as a hobby than anything else. When they finished the first season, they hit a lull but still wanted to continue writing. The idea that books may be a more feasible path to let others enjoy this story as much as they do was floated. A month later the first novella had its rough draft. It did not take long before the concepts for over 100 novellas were drafted up and the true potential of the project started to take shape. To think, it started with unpolished writings and circled back to this Sterling Turd two decades later.

What's In A Name?

Sterling Turd Productions came out of an idea in one of the King Brothers' writings that was meant to be a joke, but it grew on them little by little. When it came to founding a company, the name seemed like the right fit as they have been polishing this turd for over a couple of decades.

Our Mascot

The first concept for a mascot was a sterling turd in the shape of a cat lovingly named Lumpy McPüperton, but Ezra could not get over the fact it just didn't not seem to fit. This made Antony dig for a solution and he came up with Dougie McDungerton, a Dung Beetle.  Then while working on building this website, Ezra finally saw them side by side and got on board with Lumpy.
